Meet Deanny Lungu-Underwood

Attorney

Deanny founded Lungu Law Group in 2018 with a simple belief: estate planning should be about more than just preparing a set of legal documents: It should be about creating a plan that actually works when your family needs it most.

After more than 25 years as an attorney, Deanny has seen firsthand what can happen when estate planning is incomplete, outdated, poorly coordinated, or simply doesn’t work the way a family expected. She has seen the stress, expense, uncertainty, and family conflict that can follow when there is no clear plan—or when a plan exists but fails at the moment it is needed most. Those experiences have shaped the way she practices today.

Deanny believes the best estate plans are not simply documents sitting in a binder, on a shelf. They are thoughtfully designed, properly coordinated, understood by the people who will need to rely on them, and kept current as life changes.

As a wife and mom of four, Deanny also understands personally why protecting your family matters. She helps families, business owners, and first responders navigate the often complicated decisions surrounding family protection, wealth preservation, incapacity, and legacy planning. Her approach is educational and relationship-driven, helping clients understand not only what their plan says, but why it matters and how it is intended to work when their family needs it most.

Deanny earned her undergraduate degree in Business Economics from UCLA and her law degree from Southwestern School of Law. She is an active member of WealthCounsel, a nationally recognized organization providing advanced education and training for estate planning attorneys.

Deanny lives in Long Beach, California, with her family and is proud to serve families throughout Long Beach and the surrounding communities.

Meet Valerie Gutierrez

Client Services Director

Valerie joined our law firm in 2024. She is our Client Services Director and usually one of the first people you’ll connect with at Lungu Law Group. With her warm personality, patience, and genuine desire to help, she makes the estate planning process feel less overwhelming and more approachable from the very beginning.

As your Client Services Director, Valerie is here to make sure you feel supported throughout your experience with our firm. She helps answer the logistical questions that come up along the way, keeps your planning process moving forward, and works behind the scenes to make sure important details are handled and your plan stays on track.

Valerie understands that estate planning can feel like a lot to take on. Her goal is to make the experience feel organized, responsive, and personal—so you always know what to expect and who to turn to when you have a question.

As a mother to a young daughter, Valerie knows firsthand how much our families mean to us. She brings that perspective to her work every day and understands why having a plan in place can provide such meaningful peace of mind for the people we love.

Valerie is passionate about helping families feel cared for—not just while their estate plan is being created, but throughout their relationship with Lungu Law Group.

When she's not helping our clients and keeping the firm organized, Valerie loves spending time with her daughter and family and making the most of the moments that matter most.

Valerie is here to make sure you never feel like you're navigating the process alone.

Meet Lola Underwood

Legal Assistant

Lola joined our law firm in 2025 and has become an integral part of our team, helping ensure that each client’s estate planning experience is thoughtful, organized, and thorough.

She assists with the drafting and review of estate planning documents, paying close attention to accuracy, consistency, and each client’s individual plan. Her experience at Lungu Law Group has given her valuable firsthand insight into the importance of estate planning and the difference a well-designed plan can make for a family. She is committed to helping ensure that our clients’ plans are carefully prepared and reflect their goals and wishes.

Lola is currently attending law school, building on her practical experience at Lungu Law Group with a deeper understanding of the law.

We are proud to support her continued professional growth as she works toward becoming an attorney.

We are a boutique estate planning firm focused on helping families, business owners and first responders protect the people and things that matter most. We take the time to listen and understand each client's family, goals, and concerns before recommending a plan.

We explain things in plain language, answer your questions, and help you put your estate plan into place—including making sure your assets are properly coordinated with your trust. And our relationship doesn't end when your documents are signed – in fact, we feel that is when our long-term relationship actually begins.

To us, estate planning isn't just about preparing documents. It's about creating a plan you understand, making sure it's set up correctly, and being there whenever you need us.

We're here to answer questions and help as your life changes and to make sure your plan continues to work the way you intended.
